Corona virus Update

We understand everyone has many concerns surrounding the Coronavirus and Early Intervention.  As a response, we would like to inform you of Hooks E.I. Services current status.  As of now, Early Intervention in Erie County will continue.   However, there are some guidelines that both families and therapists need to follow in the coming months.  We need to be vigilant and take care so we do not spread the virus, as we have many clients and/or our own family members that may have compromised immune systems.

  • Any objects used in therapy sessions should be wiped down and sanitized after use (toys, picture cards, books, even therapist pens)
  • All therapists should sanitize or wash their hands between sessions as to limit the spread of germs.
  • Remind families of the Attendance policy in regards to illnesses: session should be cancelled if anyone in the home is sick with fever, vomiting, diarrhea OR if exhibiting signs and symptoms of the coronavirus. (runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever, difficulty breathing (severe cases).  The individual must be symptom free for 24 hours before services may resume.
  • IF any therapist has been exposed to the virus, they are responsible to notify families that they have been in contact with. And likewise for families to notify all therapists that they have been in contact with if anyone in the home is positive for the virus.
  • Families, please allow therapists entering the home to use your facilities to wash their hands.
  • Therapists have the freedom to choose NOT to provide services if they feel it will endanger their health or the health of a loved one. We will also respect the wishes of the families we serve, if they choose to NOT have services.
  • Sessions can be done via telehealth or outside to minimalize contact and maintain a safe distance.
  • Families are not required to disclose to therapists their COVID vaccine status but we ask that families be respectul and follow social distance guidelines.

If there are any changes, we will update you as soon as possible.

Thank You,

Melissa A. Hooks Bobrowicz, President
